Modular Homes and Modular House Builders

Ever wondered how the modular housing “boxes” you pass on the highway go together? To help our customers visualize the erection of the boxes, we sent a video crew to record a “set” (assembling the boxes at the site), from start to finish, to create a modular home.

Steps to Building a Modular House

In our state-of-the-art facility, we typically complete the construction of your home in about 10 days. The next step is to ship your home to your site, where your builder oversees the on-site finish work, including foundation preparation, water and electric hook-ups, and erection of the boxes, among other tasks.

A typical set day starts at the crack of dawn, with the arrival of the set crew and a crane in the early morning. The crews hired by your modular builders are highly specialized in the art of setting modular boxes. The set crew prepares the boxes for lifting by removing the protective covering from the unit, while the crane is prepared for action.

Next, the foundation is measured and doubled-checked for fit and level. The boxes are attached to a spreader bar to steer the boxes gently into place on to the foundation. Then the boxes are stacked together like building blocks--one at a time, matching and weaving together at each step of house construction.

Once in place, the modular units are secured to the foundation and the adjoining boxes attached to each other. When the final top boxes are in place, the roof is raised and set into position.

Building Modular Manufactured Houses - Finish Work

After the roof has been raised, the roof shingles are completed and the building is sealed from the outside weather conditions. Next, your modular builder completes final alignments and fastening inside and outside. Drop wires, pipes and other inter modular feeds are fed to the basement for on-site connections by your builder.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy our ten-minute video--“I can’t Believe this was done in One Day”--that covers the steps to building a modular house.
